MASON CITY, IA - We've been telling you about the latest in ethanol production and how the industry in the midwest has been slowing down all because of a lack of corn. But there may be a silver lining.
It may still be winter outdoors, but inside, local farmer Kevin Pope is hard at work prepping for spring planting time.
He's hoping this season turns out better than this last harvest.
He said, "It was definitely a short crop."
Despite the drought, he's following a routine thats proven to work.
"Just shop work and trying to get equipment ready to go. You know, farmers usually plan for the best and deal with the bad as it comes along."
Luckily the 2013 corn crop predictions are looking pretty bright.
